I am about to buy a saw and want to know if you think buying one like Sears sells with a laser light is worth the extra money. Any other recommendations would be appreciated.

I've seen those saws and they look like a fun toy.
However, if you are a beginner woodworker I would suggest you not bother with the laser and learn to setup a proper cut.
The extra money would be better spent on a higher quality saw, maybe even a 12" one.
