Walls and Ceilings - Painted eggshell on walls and they mark very easily.

I have recently painted my foyer a dark blue color. I used an interior enamel eggshell latex. The paint looked great, until my daughter started dragging her hands up and down the walls. There are smudges everywhere. I went back to the store and purchased the same color in semigloss enamel acrylic latex. The color is darker than I would like. I painted a small area and it shows up the inperfections alot.
My question is what can I do to resolve this problem. I like the eggshell, except for its highly marking surface. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

As you can see, flat or eggshell paint looks best on walls. I had to teach my children to walk through the house without dragging their hands on the walls.
