How do you remove the nut from the motor shaft without just spinning it? I can barely see that the shaft beyond the threads has flat spots on the sides, but the blade and plastic flange are in the way. I tried making a half inch slotted tool out of sheet metal and shoved it in there, but it spreads.
I was looking for a slot to shove in a pin to keep the motor from spinning but no luck.
Thanks ahead of time.

I don't know about electric mowers, but an impact gun works nicely in most situations like yours.
