I am preparing a dirt surface for a slab pour in a basement. When I called to order stone, I am given a choice of 1 inch clean or 3/4 inch (not clean). I assume that the 3/4 with debris will pack better. is this true? Is this what I should order?

Thanks,
Bill

Here in N.C. we use #67 under our slab because it compacts better. #67 is a mix of 1", 3/4" and smaller stone. It takes very little to compact. It is a washed stone. I would definitely use 2" of stone in a basement with the grade pointing to a sump area, the stone allows water to pass through without backing up.
