Gas and Oil Home Heating Furnaces - Furnance interfers with TV

When the furnance kick on it interferes casuing static in the TV;s What could be casuing it? The furnANCE HAS AN ELECTRONIC STARTER

Can give it a try works some times. Pull the plug on the TV and turn it around then plug it back in.;) ED

What fuel does the furnace use? If it is oil, I have more information for you. Let us know.

ed is right reverse the plug....also of info to techs, reversing the polarity of a 24 volt transformer will stop it from humming...no more rubber bushings!

There is also a problem with grounding on the new solid state ignition transformers on oil burners. It requires scraping some paint off of a mounting point to get a solid ground.

Have you noticed whether or not other appliances are affected by the furnace running (stereos, microwaves, etc.) Has any other electrical work been done at the home just prior to the problem beginning? Has the furnace itself been worked on recently?Blindly reversing the polarity at this time is not a wise idea since doing so can cause more severe problems in many electronic ignition control boxes. The first thing you should check is the power connections to the furnace, outlets involved and fuse/breaker box for tightness, cleanliness and proper grounding.
