I would like to stay between $400-$500, and this will be used mostly around the house.

Three I have found:

@home depot: Excel, 2400psi Honda 5hp: $417
@Lowes: Generac, 2700psi Briggs & Stratton 6.5hp: $469
@Sears: Craftsman, 2500psi, Briggs & Stratton 6.75hp: $479

Mike71:

I have several gas powered tools and my 2500 psi washer with a 5 HP Honda is the best.
I just change the oil and it always starts on less than half a cord pull.

Thanks Greg, I was leaning towards that one just because of the Honda motor. I have a Honda push mower and it's been flawless for 3 years.

Plus Home Depot is giving away a free accessory kit.

Your free accessory kit comes complete with floor brush, rotary brush, rotary nozzle, multi-purpose brush and extension wand ($100 value).

The Craftsman models are made by Generac if they begin with the model # of 580 to my recollection.
