We upgraded from the standard chrome look to the gold/brass look in the bathroom and the handle/towel rack on the shower door (the one on the inside of the shower) is becoming tarnished and pitted already.

I would think after paying extra for this upgrade it would at least last as long as the chrome stuff yet it only a few months old.

We have a water softener so, it could not be related to that and no harse chemicals used in the cleaning.

Is this normal?

JimInFLA,

It's not normal but if it is a below grade product, you only paid for a different finish look but no telling where there might had bought it from. I pesonally never recommend or suggest anything within the shower area in metal unless it pertains to shower doors - GOOD QUALITY ones! You're just asking for a repeat of the same.

Replace it with something else in plastic.

Good Luck!
