I just got all the white paint off a 60 year old cedar chest and it looks and smells wonderful. What would be the best finish for this fine olf piece? A friend recommended rubbing it down with a satin finish tung oil.
Thanks!

100% pure tung oil would be an excellent choice.

If you want to retain the wonderful cedar aroma - do NOT finish the interior of the chest...

Thanks for both your suggestions. I did use the satrin-finish tung oil, (so easy to just rub in) and I now have a wonderful old 60 yr old cedar chest in my living room which looks exquisite with my oak parquet floors! The only interior finish I did was on the back of the lid, which will reamin propped open, and the scent greets everyon who comes in the front door.
