I have a door handle that must be 25 or 30 years old. The exterior is an elongated handle with a thumb opener and it has one screw at the very bottom, which when loosened, releases the bottom of the handle only. The interior is a normal looking door knob with no screws! It has started to get loose and I can't get the darn thing off. Can you help????

I am not sure about this exact model.
Usually when no screws are visible on the inside, they are concealed under the plate that the knob goes into. In this case you have to remove the knob first. There is usually a small hole to insert a probe, such as a paper clip or small screwdriver, and depress a spring loaded retainer. Sometimes you have to rotate the knob to line the retainer up with the hole. Push this in while gently pulling on the knob and it will come off.
The plate is often held on by friction-pry gently at the edge with a screwdriver. Occasionally there will be a small spring tab to depress to remove the plate.
Let us know if any of this helps-good luck.
