What kind of caulk do I need to use in my expansion joints? I have a new house I am building. Its located in Houston so it gets pretty hot. And Do I need to clean out any extra motar in that expasion joint? there is some from the masons. Thanks in advance

If you're talking about the 1/2" wide or so gaps every so aften in a brick veneer outside wall, my recollection is that those are for ventilation, not expansion. Don't fill them.

Don't see expansion joints in residental work here in DC much. If they are the mortar droppings should be removed, a closed cell backer installed, and single or two part urethane caulk of the appropiate color would be the best product
