the stairs leading up to my door are concrete and the paint on it is starting to chip off. I just got down spending about 30-45 min. working on it with a 2 1/2 inch scrapper. I was just wondering if anybody knows of a better way at getting the paint off the concrete? It's a huge area, and if I needed to I'd buy something to make it go quicker, then just the scrapper I could.

Hope that made sense,
bob

Have you tried a pressure-washer?
If the paint is really layered on, you might even try brushing on paint stripper, let it sit as directed, and then pressure -washing it off.
Good luck!

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the forums. Man good luck to ya, One of my first jobs after I started my own company many yrs ago was a rehab job with a painted front porch, about 12' x 25', It had been painted and repainted forest green many times in the past, but within recent yrs nothing had been done to it and it had huge wear marks in the main traffic way, and lots of big chips gone. We tried brush-on paint stripper, a couple of kinds of acid, power washing, nothing seemed to touch it. After 2 days I broke down & rented a sand blaster & it still took forever. Definitely lost $$ on that one, but you live & learn.

You might get lucky with a very high pressure washer, but sand blasting might be your only option to remove it all.

Like I said best of luck to you. Post back if you find some other magic bullet.

a guy at home depot said to try pain removal, so I'll give that a go this weekend. I need to get that off, or my mom will pay a contracter to do it, and I don't want her to waste money for something I can do.
