I'm thinking of refinishing my old spanish style bedroom set. It has rococco panels on the armoire doors and the drawers. I'm afraid of what I will find underneath or how it will look without them. I really want to give this set a new modern look.

In manufactured (as opposed to hand made) furniture, you can bet anything covered up is not the same quality (or as visually appealing) as what's on top.

The panels can probably be removed, but I'd seriously consider some other type of alteration, paint, antiquing, etc., before trying this.

I planned on painting the furniture but hate the plastic inserts. They have a spanish design and definitely will not go with what I have in mind. Thansk for your input.:(
