Is there is a standard width size for a mirror over a pedestal bathroom sink, or is it personal preference? The sink is 20" wide.

Personal preference, whatever you choose.

With a 20" sink, I would install nothing less than 18" mirror. As fewalt states, it is a matter of personal preference as to size. For instance. when I sell a 36" vanity, most folks choose a 30" medicine cabinet.
