What is the difference between sheetrock and wallboard? Can the names be exchanged, or do they refer to a particular kind of board? If so, what is each one's purpose?

Wallboard, drywall, sheetrock, all one in the same product.

Wallboard also happens to be the name of a tool manufacturer & supplier for the industry. They calls theirs wallboard, imagine that!


USG, also a major player in the industry calls theirs Sheetrock brand.

Hope that clears up the mystery for ya.
