OK, I have a question that is somewhat the reverse of the previous subject: I just stained a set of bifold doors and the stain came out too dark. (I haven't varnished or polyed it yet; just one coat of stain.) Is there any way to lighten the color?
I was thinking of several options: (1) I could try bleaching the doors, but not too sure how this would come out; (2) Or, I was thinking about applying a light coat of watered down light-colored paint (maybe beige?) over it; (3) Or, as last resort, just paint the entire doors a light-colored paint.
Since the doors have shutters, I would not want to strip/sand the doors to acheive a lighter colored effect. Any suggestions? Thanks, in advance.

Well, you blew my first suggestion out of the water - using KWIK paoint/varnish remover to remove part of the stain.
The only other alternative I see is paint.
