I have a long walkway and a set of large cement stairs in the front of my house. I would like to dress up the cement with some tile. I installed a terra cotta tile on my stairs in my San Diego home and it came out real nice and has held up great. Will the same tile take the harsh winters of New Jersey or should I resign myself to the look of cement?

i would stay with cement or think about stamped concrete ,they can make it look like tile. check wwwbomanite.com

A terra cotta tile or saltillo would not be a good choice for the east coast. There are many ceramic tile products that look like the tile you used in california. With the correct installation method you should be able to have tile installed in your outdoor areas in New Jersey.

forced, Ceramic tile has a rating of one through five, five being of comerical quality usually made of porclein. proclein tile would be more suitable for the east coast which has freezing and thawing conditions. Talk to your local tile store and tell them you want a number five rated porclein tile!!!

hope this helps:) MARCO
