Does anyone have experience with using a drywall based product that has a vinyl covering over one side?
I'm thinking of using this under wall tile in a bath/shower installation.
I'm not sure of the exact name of the product but the salesman said it's supposed to work just as well as cement based backer board, yet be easier to work with.
Thanks for your input,
Matt

It is on the walls of my bathroom. I seriously doubt that it is a substitute for cement backerboard.

Thanks for the response, Chris. I don't think the material I am referencing is the same thing you have in your bathroom.
The stuff I'm talking about is specifically meant to be used under tile in a bath application. It has a gray colored vinyl over the drywall type material. Special fasteners are used to attach it to the wall that seal the penetration from the fastener.
Any more thoughts?

Well, there is nothing like a new product for the market.
