I'm refinishing wood pieces that have thin, gold embossed leather on the tops. What do I need to do to refurbish the leather and how do I reattach it to the furniture? Any information you have that could help me would be appreciated.
Thank you!

There's not much that can be done to 'refurbish' the leather - although I have applied a clear coat of lacquer over some pieces with a genetrally good result.
Attaching is something else. Normally, these pieces are put on a back plate (which they overlap) and the clamping action of the backing holds the piece in place.
It is possible to attach leather inserts with ordinary wood glue.
