I have a concrete floor that is in good shape, but the drainage is pour, can I pour Three inches over the top with reinforcement without running in to problems? There are no cracks in the floor now.

Hi,

We will be glad to help you, but we need some additional information
Can you tell us if your floor is external or internal? Is it a driveway, a garage, a basement? Is it on the ground or on a slab?

The floor is located in a seperate garage.

Don't know where you live, but if you live in a northern climate subject to freezing, a word of warning: If you slope the floor to the garage door you have the chance of occaisonally freezing the door to the floor when the snow melt during the day stands against the weatherstripping and then freezes at night.

Hi,

There is not real problem in pour concrete over concrete, but there are some important points:

- The new concrete will never "glue" with the old concrete. So, you'll need to wire them with steel. If this conection is not OK, both layers will work as separate pieces, and the new one will surely crack.

-Be sure that the garage floor is 100% clean before start (oil spots are the worst)

- You need to be sure that with the new floor thickness the garage door (and other doors) will open OK.

- Be sure where the new drainage is going

Hope this helps!
