Ho there I am thinking of extending a concrete slab in my backyard but i am not sure how many bags of concrete i need. The bags of concrete are 60 pound bags and from what i measured the area i want to do is about 4 inches deep, 7.5 feet wide and 34 feet long!! So how do i figure out how many bags do i need?

Thanks

Oh by the way the bags are concrete mix bags you now the just add water type.

You will need about 85 cubic feet or 3.15 cubic yards. If the bag dosn't tell you cu feet or cu yards call the store where you bought it. I think your job is a little large for ready mix bags.

Order 3 yards of 3,000 psi, 4-5" slump concrete from a local concrete plant! It would take you ages to do this with sakrete and you would kill yourself in the process and couldn't mix it fast enough to even make it work! 3 yards will run you about $200, plus cost of forms and finishing tools. Read a good book on how to form, pour, and finish a concrete slab and you will be in business.

Get yourself a book on concrete. It sounds like subbase prep was skipped completely.

that would be 185 bags of concrete. WOW thats alot of mixing.
you could do 20 or 30 bags a weekend, that would take 2 months or you could call a mason and pay anywere from 3-6 dollars a sf labor and material and get it done in one weekend.

He would need to order 3 1/2 yards michaeshortt is right on the money. If it not graded like a pool table you lose concrete in any variations in the base.
He could rent a small mixer and mix the bags in a day.
Anything over a yard I usealy get a truck
