I did a pretty nice backsplash with tumbled marble in our kitchen. My wife have now (3 years later) decided to replace the existing countertops with granite, which is about 3/4" thicker! I can not abutt the new countertop against the backsplash since the wall and marble tiles are very rugged and uneven. I need to cut 3/4" off the bottom of the back splash to slide the new countertops underneath it. Apart from pulling off the bottom layer of tile and cutting them with a wet saw, is there an alternate way of cutting straight across the tiles while they are still on the wall without ripping them off? Any bright ideas?
Thanks a lot!

Hi
Well I know of a dusty way:( ...you put a dry cut diamond blade in a saw and away you go. A 4 inch blade that attaches to an angle grinder would work pretty good and would fit into a smaller space and into the corners if you need it to.

adanac, is right a 4" diamond blade will cut through the tiles easily, if you have someome hold up a shopvac behind the say you should be able to catch most of the dust and not make to much of a mess.

If you don't own a 4 or 4 1/2 inch angle grinder you can buy a dry cut diamond 7" blade for your circular saw but the results are going to be the same.... Dust---- and lots of it. Good luck
