I am planning on setting the bathroom mirrors into the tile with a tile border around it, over the sinks. I have seen this done and it looks nice, are there any drawbacks to doing this?
I have thought maybe there might be the need to replace the mirror later in case of breakage, is there anything else?
And would this be difficult to replace the mirrors?
Also what would be best adhesive to attach the mirror tp the wall?
Thanks!

kar2000, Custom mirror wraps are awesome if done correctly. I have done about a dozen already this year and am still having trouble figuring out why they are becoming so popular so quickly. I don't see the drawbacks and apparently others don't either. They are very striking when done right and seem to just come out of the wall at you. Make sure the mirror opening is square and do the tile work first then have the mirror cut to size. The only thing that would stop you from a project like this would be your imagination. As for gluing the mirror to the wall, well you can pick up mirror adhesive in any home center. The most easy for you to use would be the type that comes in a caulking tube. As for replacing due to breakage, that would be the issue if it came down to replacement. It would be broken so part of your removal would already be done for you. The chances of breaking a mirror like that in a bathroom are pretty rare I think.

Ok! :) Just what I thought! :) My husband had me scared he said no way, what if the mirrors break? I 'm more like..... No big deal we'll just replace them when and if..... like you said how often does a bathroom mirror break? Not one of mine ever have and I have 4 crazy kids!
Thanks again for your imput! I will post a picture if I get my way on this project! :)

Hi- I'm 51 years old and have NEVER broken a bathroom mirror--nor have my 80 year old parents. --- how many has your husband broken ? Relax and enjoy !

If you have not done this, be sure to use a mirror that is not too large. My sister made one for me that is beautiful! However, the mirror was 24x36. As you can imagine, after adding enough tile border for that size of mirror, we ended up with a mirror as large as the vanity in the batroom. It is beautiful, but sooooo heavy that we had to use HUGE anchors to hold it and the wieght of the tile and grout is too much and the grout is buckling. IT IS BEAUTIFUL THOUGH! Just hope it holds up. Stay below 11x13 on the mirror.

Was your mirror made seperate? By that I mean apart from the wall tile? My idea is to tile the wall and leave a large enough space to insert the mirror directly onto the wall, no need for anchors at all and size shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your imput though.

I'm going to do this in our bathroom remodel as well! It will be fun to share our experiences! Attached is my inspiration pic. We ordered a vanity almost exactly like this one, and I plan on making the tile for the mirror in a sun/ocean theme. But I have to do the floor and tub first....

Kar- yep my mirror was completely seperate. It's beautiful, but SO heavy! I am going to have to look closer at what you are working on because I was going to start one for my other bathroom tomorrow. Will delay that project! Thanks

I know this is a dead thread, but we just did this in a bathroom. My mirror contractor installed an "L" channel along the bottom edge, this supports the weight of the mirror 48" h x 60" w. with lights in the mirror. Can email pic if desired.

What a great idea. I don't have enough wall space around the mirror to place the tile. Do you think I could I tile right on to the mirror itself?

I'd love to see a picture of your new mirror. Can you attach it to your post?
