I'm repairing a patch of tiled floor near the bathtub. Removed loose tiles and found wood rot. Was able to remove loose rotted wood, repair with "Cure-Rot" and filled in space with several layers of wood putty. Floor is now firm and strong, but I can't seem to sand it level. Does it need to be absolutely level in order to re-apply the tiles (which I have subsequently cleaned vigorously and are almost like new) or can there be splinter like gaps throughout the space? Entire space is probably 12"x12". If it needs to be absolutely level, will I be able to accomplish it by continuing to use the wood putty?? Thanks so much for your time.
