I have just finished painting a panelled wall on an enclosed porch. The floor is painted hardwood, which I will probably repaint. I am considering replacing the existing wood baseboards with ceramic tiles, if it's not too expensive. I've never worked with tile before. Can this be done, and how?

I wouldn't suggest using ceramic tile on this particular application.

tile2day...thanks for your response. I've decided to tile the floor instead of paint it, and use wood baseboards. But just out of curiosity, would ceramic tile work as a baseboard in that case? Or is the paneling (it's cheap paneling, not real wood) be too flimsy to back it?

I still think its a stretch to use a ceramic base in this application. If the walls were perhaps painted drywall it may be something to consider.

If you install ceramic tile base board over cheap paneling, the paneling might flex and cause the tiles to come loose or crack the grout joints. It is not the best idea---- sorry !
