I have a heavy, old oak, oval bevelled mirror (38"x 20")and would like to hang horizontally above my couch. There are no hangers on the back. The frame(3/4"x 1-1/2") is made of four pieces, think of the joints as NW, SW, SE, NE corners. I don't want to put any stress on them. Any ideas?

Check at your local hardware for large picture hanging kits. These would include hangers that could be screwed to the wooden frame, heavy wire, and hanger. Hanging a heavy object would require placing large nail or screw into one (or two) wooden studs in wall to assure that the mirror would not fall.
