I have a shiny brass chandelier and I would like to paint it to look old world/rod ironish. Are there any good techniques for faux painting it, and does a chandelier get too hot for paint? Thanks alot!!

Sherwin Williams sells a product called Kem Bond for priming bare metal not steel. Kilz and Zinsser make primers for painted metal. If your brass metal has a good finish on it, it may be lacquer and qualify as a painted surface for the purposes of priming.

I doubt that it gets too hot for paint.

The faux painters will be along directly.
