In Sept 2000 I had the exterior of my house profesionally painted
by a reputable company using high quality paint. However, the paint is peeling off in long narrow strips.

The house was new to me and had not been painted for many, many years. I'm am not sure if is was stained or painted originally, because the siding was down to wood. The wood was rough but in good condition.

I figured a paint job should last longer than this. The house was power washed before the painting. Any idea on what went wrong. I plan to contact the company, but I don't know where I stand on paint life. Any ideas on how I should approach the painting company.
Thanks,
CFrana

I would expect exterior paint to last 15 years, except for fading of some colors in the constant sun. Proper preparation of the surface and proper application are the keys to success.

If it is coming off in strips, something was not right.

Your peeling paint sounds like two possibilities:
1) the paint may have been applied before the siding was completely dry, or 2) there is excessive moisture inside the house trying to escape through the siding.
