considering purchase of old home in southern new jersey, elec. system is 60 amp, will this pass cert of occ.?
how impossible would upgrading to 220 be, luckily i have electrician in me family.

Whats code there for the homes. We start out with a 200 amp on homes now. I dont no of any that are under a 100 amp any more ;) ED

If you have a circuit breaker panel inside and not old fuses, the conversion shouldn't be a real big deal. It would require some coordination with the electric company and an electrical inspector. Actually, Home Depot has some good quality stuff in that line. Like Square D (not homeline) and Cutler-Hammer. If you have an electrician in your family, he can probably help you plan the job and show you how to make the connections with the aluminum wire. The rest is just labor.
