Hi, I recently installed a Comfortmaker 125000 btu, gas hot air upflow furnace.
My question .. The draft/flue fan comes on, after about 30 secs, the ignitor glows red hot, then the gas valve clicks on. Most of the time I get no ignition and you can smell gas, a little. Then after another draft period, the ignitor glows again, the gas valve clicks on and I get ignition. It happens quite regularly, Is this a pressure problem or or sensor prob? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thx Rick

I would first look at the ignitor and check its allignment. I had to replace the ignitor on my furnace Saturday and when putting the new one in I pointed it to far to the right. It was only 1/8", which I didn't consider large but the furnace would not fire. I moved it a bit to the left and the problem went away. (does anybody know why it's so difficult to buy heating parts? I tried 20 different suppliers and nobody would sell directly to DYI people. )

prohibit sales to an individual with out a state conditioned air liscense. you can find parts online, though. i recommend www.heatcoolparts.com.
