I have an old 4 glass panel storm window that i want to make into a mirror. How do i get the old caulking off? It's hard as a rock. I tried using a dremel with a cutting bit kinda like a small router bit to cut the caulk out but it only scratches the stuff.

Thanks

You might give a chemical adhesive stripper a try. Product would need time to dissolve.

Take to your local hardware store to have them heat up the old caulk with blow torch or heat gun, they probably have all the tools if they do in shop repairs. Or attempt it yourself carefully.
Take Care.

Old glazing compound or caulk can be cut out with utility knife, surfaces cleaned with mineral spirits and new glazing compound installed. Glazing compound and glazer points tend to be used for replacing panes. This will work for glass or mirror panes.

The best way to remove the old glazing is the same way the glass shops do... HEAT IT... they use a special tool with a heating element (kinda like a toaster) that they hold over the glazing until it softens, then they use a putty knife to remove it...

Best to do this outdoors as it will create both smoke and a buring smell... Short of this, the local glass shop shouldn't charge you more then $5-6 to do it for you....
