My 9 year old furnace is heating but...

The heating element comes on (glows), the gas kicks on, and it runs for a few seconds, but then it kicks off again. After going though this same cycle a few times, it eventually stays on 'then' the blower comes on and heating takes place as normal.

Like I said, the house is staying warm. Had I not been in the basement for a while, I many not have even noticed this.

This doesn't seem normal to me! Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance :)

P.S.
I replace the heating element/glow plug last year, and the filter is replaced every 60 days.

sounds like you have a dirty flame sensor. Look for a sensor that looks like a hanger in plastic on the opposite side of the burners from the inginer. Clean it with some steel wool.
