Is it possible to paint formica countertops. Ours are in very bad shape - lots of scratches, very dull, etc. We really can't afford to replace them right now and thought paint would be a good solution. Can it be done? How to get the best results?

This is a link to a site that describes this project complete with materials. It seems achievable. I have not done it.
Some don't think of it as having much potential as a durable, long-term solution. But it probably beats the price of new coutertops.
