I'm having a problem with the condenser unit cycling on and off every 2-3 minutes. The unit is a Carrier 2 1/2 ton. The t-stat is set at 74 degrees. Any help would be great.

The unit is short cycling for a reason. The only reason it starts every 4 minutes and 45 seconds (APPROX) is that it has a built in protection feature. Is the outdoor compressor running when it trys to start, does the fan start with it? If not the fan may be bad, or the compressor or a bad contactor. If both start it has probly lost it's charge. Switch to emergency on the thermostat (this will disable the compressor) and call in a pro.

Have you replaced your air filter lately? (or cleaned in the case of permanent type filters) A dirty air filter is the most common cause of short cycling of furnaces/heat pumps during the heating season and should be changed/cleaned every 4-6 weeks. If you haven't, then do so right away, otherwise call an experienced service company before more serious damage occurs.

may be low on refrigerant, with the low pressure switch taking it out after the compressor has pilled the suction pressure below cutout. just a thought.
