I want to paint my bath walls and ceiling all one color. Can I get away with using a flat paint? I know its good to have flat for ceiling, but what about a flat paint on the walls in the bathroom? I always tho't you were supposed to use at least a semi-gloss on the walls in a bath. My bath is small and I can get away with using only a gallon. If I choose flat for ceiling and semi for walls I have to buy two different cans of paint although color would be the same......

Thanks,

Ron

Many use semi-gloss or satin for bathroom walls. What difference it makes is due to the frequency with which bath walls are washed. Flat finishes are not as durable as others. What might be better for your situation would be to use satin throughout.

Flat paint does not wash well. Abrasion tends to show up a shiny places on the finish.

use an oil based in the bathroom, holds up better to the water and the scrubbing.you can even get away with a low sheen with oil based if thats the look you want.it wont absorb water as a flat latex would and it wont shine when scrubbed as a latex would.and never ever use a flat latex paint anywhere near water.yes flat is good for ceilings to hide deffects and what not but in the bathroom where those little water beads form is not a match made in heaven by any stretch of the imagination.
