My data on my Heat pump is illegible, but I know its a Heil HP manufactured in 1987 " Challenger" model with an indoor section and an outdoor section.
When I run the unit in heat mode with the aux. lite off I get a 30 degree delta between the supply and return duct. The supply duct measured is right above the indoor portion of the unit. When I crank it up and lite the aux. heat lite I still get 30 degree delta ; no increase. The aux. lite is not burned out because it illuminates when the unit is in emergency heat mode.
Is it possible to get 30 degrees out of a 16 year old unit or could the aux heat be running but not illuminating the aux lite in HP mode only? Thanks Bill

It kinda seems like that to me too. Why isn't the aux. lite illuminated? I don't think I'll be able to test the amperage. Is there another way can I turn off the 60 amp aux heater breaker and then test it again? Thanks Bill
