I recall seeing drill bits for glass and am wondering how reliable they are. What I want to do is drill two holes for mounting a magnetic knife rack on a mirror backsplash. But I don't want to take any chances on damaging the mirror.

The drill bits made for glass are reliable. The biggest thing in using them is slow, even pressure at as near a perfect right angle to the surface as you can manage. A variable speed drill, set to medium or slow also helps.
