I'm putting new carpet and padding in a first floor room over a 3 foor crawl space. After the old carpet was removed the plywood sub floor has a strong oder. Is there something i can put down betweeen the subfloor and padding or a way to treat the subfloor before laying in the carpet that will take care of it.

Primers such as Kilz and Zinsser hae versions for sealing in smoke odor and fire odors. I imagine that they would seal in whatever you have. Prime with one of these and a coat of paint should keep it locked in.
