I am having a house built and want to have a deck put on. My current home has a deck made of pressure treated wood, which is OK, but I have heard good things about Trex, TimberTech, and some other alternative decking materials. Does anyone know anything about these alternatives (cost compared to wood, quality and durability, etc)? Thanks!

There are many new composites available. Trex is shaped like a 2X6, others have tongue and groove interlocking shapes, ... Best bet would be to go to several lumber yards or home centers and see who carries which brands and find one you like the looks and price of. The advantages of a composite is that they are low maintenance and use some recycled materials. While they cost a little more initially, you save later by not having to restain them every few years.
