Go to any lumber yard or home center that sells Simpson metal fastening products (the most popular that I know
of). Simpson has free deck brochures with plans for simple, multi-level, and raised decks.
You'll need to buy some Simpson products anyway!

Well, I'm done with this site. This newsgroup MAY have some interesting ideas in it, I don't know; too bad I can never find them in between all the "Go to any lumber yard or home center that sells Simpson..." messages. God! What do you do? Save that same message in a file and cut-n-paste it for every answer??? ALRIGHT! We KNOW you can go to a lumber yard that sells Simpson products - all you have to do is pick any previous message and see that recommendation - it's in pratically every message! I've only been lurking on this site for alittle over a week and I'm sick of it already - more power to those who've been around here longer.

Computers, the internet and web sites have their place, but sometimes, being able to discuss you ideas with a pro, and having everything explained to you is SO MUCH BETTER! Just think of lumber yards and even home centers as an "In-person web site"! <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by echo echo echo echo:

Questions that can be answered with words are usually well answered here. When the answer is a diagram, it's usually tough. My guess from the number of times people have asked for deck plans on the web is that such plans don't exist on the web.
Not every question has an answer. I think this site is great!

Evidently, you are not one the thousand or so visits I get each month to my website?
At the risk of sounding offensive and possibly defensive too, I work a full-time job outside in 90 plus degree weather in th mid-south and volunteer my "free time" and advice to those who might accept and appreciate it.
I do use the cut and paste method when it is easier than another method of answering a question. I have not searched the web for any free deck plans. If there are any, please let us know of a good site and we'll cut and paste it too!
Most of my deck plans are in the heads of my customers. I get it to paper so that I can do a lumber "take off."
The Simpson brochures are the most simple and easy way I can recommend for a DIY'er to design and build a deck.
My apologies to those who take offense.

I agree with Carpenter -- a full service lumber yard or home center that carries Simpson products is probably a better place to go to get the plans. They will help you get everything on paper, will pull all of the lumber and hardware you will need, and will even deliver it for you if need be. Don't know of any web site that can do all of that.

echo echo echo echo,
From one unregistered user to another you're a twit. By your own self admission you are a self-absorbed, demanding, ignorant, lazy, whining, web-enabled-boob.
You seem to define "moderator" and "respondent" as "personal web servant". No doubt, you define "expert" as disclosure of any and all information on your whimsical demand.
You're funny on various levels, (none should instill pride), but the most humorous was your threat to leave. Quote: "The Earth will still spin, and the Sun will still shine when you're gone". "Don't let the door hit you in the A on your way to hell".
If you've made good on your threat "Thank You". If not, do the Internet Community a favor...pull the plug and find a new hobby.
Now, I'll offer limited help to you and the other boob or boobs that started this mess.
FYI: there are a number of web sites that offer free deck plans. There is one other (actually two, if understand telneting and cad programs) that offers online design. And, there are many more that sell deck plans and deck related software.
If you want to know where you can design decks online, you have two choices: Kiss my A and pay for the pleasure or use a search engine. Please, Thank You, and $10.00 U.S.
dollars will purchase the link.
If you want free deck plans, go here http://www.freedeckplans.com/ If you want or need well worn basic advice try "Better Homes and Gardens Home Improvement Encyclopedia". For the other "I wants": DIY.
