The house we have now has small bolts with knobs on each side of the door on the basement door and main floor bathroom door. These were obviously put in place (located near the top of the door) to keep little children from being able to open the doors. I have looked everywhere and I can't find anyone who carries anything like these. I would like to put them on a couple of other doors in the house. Has anyone heard of/ seen door bolts like this, and if so can you recommend where I might find them???

Are these some type of surface mounted bolt that slides back and forth? The most common type you will see are barrel bolts available at the hardware store for gates etc, usually too ugly for interior use. There are also architectural grade bolts that look nicer and are of better quality which you may have to go to a locksmith or builders hardware store to order.

The locks are similar to dead bolts used on exterior doors, only smaller (the bolt is smaller in diameter) and there are turn knobs on both sides (i.e. no key).

Check this other thread from Trojan91. You are looking for something similar. I am not sure where you would find something like this new. Perhaps some restoration hardware websites. I did not find a whole lot myself when searching. You also might try searching with the terms thumb latch, thumb turn(which is normally the part that turns the bolt).

Most of the terms I gave you to search for did not work too good. My best results were with "mortise privacy bolt" and "privacy turn latch".

This is similar to what you are looking for I believe:http://www.muffshardware.com/h58.jpg

I recognized the description as a type of lock I had at my house...I entered the search phrase "turn knob door". I clicked a link which offered detailed instruction on dead bolt installation. I found a link an online store which offers over 100,000 ready to ship items....I clicked doors/door hardware/sliding locks (26 at the bottom of the list) scrolled down and found the item on the bottom of the page.....

look at the lower right of this page.
