My mother would like me to install two deadbolts at her house. How difficult is this and can a beginner diy'er accomplish it? Thank you!

You need to be comfortable using a power drill straightly for the holes, possibly a chisel and hammer for mortising, depending on the the lock style, and be able to measure twice and cut once.

Most locks will include an installation template that you tape to the door which helps you locate the holes accurately, the most critical part.

In addition to the power drill, you will need spade bits and/or hole saws. The size depends on the lock manufacturer which will have the sizes needed in the instructions.
