I have my outside patio made into a permitted room and added to the house. However the walls and vaulted cieling are not insulated well and the winds are coming through the joints. Do I have to demolish the whole room and rebuild it or can I insulate the cieling and walls without rebuilding?

First you have to find out if this area meets local building codes. Porches or patios probably do not require certain bracing concerning earthquakes. However, if you were to convert this area into living quarters, it is more than likely that this area would require such re-inforcement.

On the other hand, if this is not required in your area and the structure is sound, then you can insulate the walls and ceiling.
