I just purchased a "fixer-upper" cottage in Ontario's "Canadian Sheild" and the entire property is bedrock with up to 3' of pete covering it (there is mostly no covering where I will build the deck). What is the best way to secure the footings/pier blocks?

P.S. I have read the HowTo article on this site and I have a great book from the library, but neither address this issue.
