i am building a deck off of improvised ready made plans to support a 250 gallon hot tub weighing 500 lbs dry weight-i used 4*4 posts to support the 10*12 deck -9 posts in all centered on both axis with 2*8 joists on 16 centers-is this strong enough ???

500 lbs. dry weight, plus 2,000 lbs. of water (8 lbs. X250 gal.), plus the weight of the deck... It would seem that what you are building will support it, but then, I'm no engineer. If 'Jack the Contractor' jumps in here and tells you differently, listen to him!!
quote:
Originally posted by josh:

Lefty is correct. You did not mention what size lumber you have holding up your joists.
I am assuming 2x8's also bolted to the 4x4 posts with 3/8" bolts. Is this correct ???
Happy tubing.
