I actually have a patio, not a deck question (not many decks in Phoenix).
My roof hangs over about 12 feet off the house and there is a very, very homemade enclosure. There are some posts and one wall that has drywall half way up and two walls that are all drywall and the last part is open to the backyard. I would like to get rid of all the drywall and just open it up but i am afraid of destroying something that might be weight bearing. I am not sure if the roof overhang is original or how well it is done (i.e. how much it actually needs these drywalls). any suggestions.
thank you.

I would call a contractor to have a look at it. He (or she) can tell you what is bearing and what isn't.
