I am planning to build a deck and have been reading alot about preventing the wood from rotting. Has anyone ever put the ice and barrier product used on roofs, between wood surfaces that touch to keep moisture from staying between them? My thought is to lay a strip on top of the joists and screw the deck boards on through it. Does anyone forsee a problem with doing this?

Most of the time the rotten wood is the result of the person who put it together.
Ventilation and the ability of water to get away from the wood is the best prevention.
also using the right building materials. This is usually the area where most people make their mistakes. I would not use roof seal on a deck.
