I am contemplating building a deck over an existing low slope roof but cannot seem to find any information on preparing the roof to best prevent future leaks and attachment methods to avoid the same. The ledger board will be attached to a brick building but the posts will be mounted over the walls of an existing wood addition. Any information or links would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest that you reroof the low pitched roof with metal roofing before you build the deck over it. Once the deck is in place, roofing repairs or replacement are going to be a whole lot more time comsuming and expensive. Install the best metal roof you can afford now and you will be money ahead.
