How do you remove parquet flooring from a plywood subfloor in preparation for installation of new wood strip flooring?

Don't forget to wear your safety goggles. A hammer and chisel and pry bar will probably be very helpful. If you have much to remove, you might want to take a look at a pneumatic chisel at the rental store.

There is a roofing material removal tool that I use for removing floors. It has sharpened steel fingers (designed to go around roofing nails), a steel handle. and a "heel" for leverage.
It comes is a short version for kneeling or drywall use and a longer version for standing use.
Mine were black metal with a red handle purchased in 2000-2001 at Home Depot. I seem to remember the price range was $30-50 - not cheap but very reuseable and well worth the price.
I saw a homemade version of this made out of a flat shovel that the owner had cut "V"'s out of and sharpened.
I have found that residual glue removal is the real pain in floor/rug removal.
