Hi:
We are looking for suggestions for a flooring material. We have a 65-year old house. A previous owner added a room off the kitchen. Currently we use this room for eating and TV; the kitchen is too small for a table. The current flooring material is mixed-width pine. It would look great in a mountain vacation home, but that's not what we have. The pine is too hard for our small kids to play on. Over the years, gaps have formed between the planks, and have become a dirt-collection point. We need the room for eating and playing. We see these problems with the common flooring materials: wood and tile: too hard for the kids to play on; carpet: too easily stained by food and the outdoor foot traffic.

Here's your chance to offer an opinion.

Thanks!

The room is 15' x 20 ' and looks like this:

How about press-on vinyl squares. Dont know if the pine flooring is level and sound as a base. A floating engineered laminate floor is another option. I just installed 3/4" hardwood in the back of my house. Tile and hardwood is my formula.
