I have heated my home for the past 3 years with a pellet stove with no problems. With this current shipment of pellets, (the same brand I always buy), the ash does not filter down into the pan below. Now it just clumps up and the pellets pile up. Is this a problem or a fire hazard? Now I just open it and spoon it out but then the fire goes out ....... Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks for your help!

pmskippy:
The cause of the ash not dropping to the bottom of the pan is likely a mechanical one.
The pellet feed rate could be set too high or if the flame is not burning hot enough, the area around the burner could be gummed up with creosote.
Check to see if there is a sticky substance around the burner.
